About us

A Christian Community focused on

Making God Known

We want to help you discover the God we know and love—the God of second chances, forgiveness and new life; the Lord of mercy, grace, and kindness; and the one who wants you to discover the possibilities he has for you. See what God wants you to discover about him… and you, with us!

Being Genuine

God created YOU in His image, and he wants you to genuinely discover who he's designed you to be and that great life he has for you and your family. We invite you to join us in discovering who you are meant to be in God.

Relevant Teaching

God gave us the bible to discover, uncover, and learn why He loves us so much and how he wants to be in relationship with us for all eternity. We believe that the bible is God's inspired Word, that it is without error, and that it is relevant for our lives.

Our Communities

We believe the church isn't a building, it's people. And like you, we want to connect with other people, have meaningful relationships, and to make a positive difference in our communities, That's why we're here in Alma—to be God's hands, feet, and love to all of Harlan County and beyond.

our beliefs and values

God is one, yet three persons. He has three attributes and three ways of being with His creation: as Eternal Father, as Son & Savior (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit.

We believe God our Father created all things, and that nothing we see or experience is an accident. He is the Creator of our universe, and the maker of each and every person. We believe He had you in mind before he ever laid the foundations of the universe. He is our Father and a loving and merciful God who wants you to be with Him for all eternity.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten son. He was not created like you and me, but has always been, one with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He is the Word of God, and through his voice, all things that have ever been were made. He gave up his position and divinity in heaven and came to earth as a human being. Jesus lived among us. He ate, drank, slept, wept and laughed. He experienced joy and also sorrow. For us and our salvation, He suffered death on the cross, and in doing so took onto himself all our sins and wrongdoing so we may be forgiven once and for all time. We believe Jesus rose from the dead three days later, and through His resurrection, all who believe in Him will rise to new life and live eternally with God in Heaven.

The Holy Spirit is one with the Father and the Son. He breathed all living things into existence, and in him we move and have our being. He lives within all who confess and believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, speaking to us and guiding us in life. He is the Gift Jesus promised before he ascended into heaven, and is the giver of gifts to the church so we may be the embodiment of Jesus, so that the world may know God’s love.

We believe the Christian Bible, both the Old and New Testaments in their original writings, is the inspired Word of God, given to us so that we may learn how to love God, love another, and grow in our faith.

You are one of a kind! There’s never been, nor will the ever be, anyone just like you. The Bible says that God knew you before he even the universe, and that makes you pretty special. We value that at Peace Lutheran and value how God created you in his image.

Jesus started the church by creating a community of people who believe he is our Savior. We choose to gather often to worship God, to learn together, and to make Jesus known by serving in our communities.

Jesus said to go into the whole world and make him known. We’re on a mission to make heaven more crowded by making Jesus known, and we want you in heaven too. Are you interested in that too? If so, we’re your kind of people.

Our Next Pastor

Might God be speaking to you and calling you to Peace Lutheran Church, Alma?

If you were to ask our former pastor, he would tell you Peace Lutheran is a good place to call home.

Pray to the Lord and ask him to guide you, then send your resume to the call committee for consideration.

May God bless you in your journey and to your next pastoral home.
